Here she goes again–facing reality. I promise the funny Anne will be back soon, but for just a minute, think about this–you wake to a fire, an earthquake, a gas leak–all things that could cause you to have to evacuate your residence. Think it couldn’t happen? But what if it did. Would you be ready? Or would you have to leave in your robe and your fuzzy slippers? Makes ya think, huh–don’t tell me you don’t own a pair of fuzzy slippers–I’ll let you borrow one of mine.
First, the box should be fireproof and portable. Yep, you just might have to carry it. What goes in an Evacuation Box anyway? It should include copies of everything that’s in your safety deposit box at the bank (if you don’t already have one, something you should consider). Into the box, put a copy of your will and power of attorney, recent tax returns, home maintenance records, medical records of shots, medication you take, record of allergies, credit card records and account numbers, jewelry appraisals and other valuable items, list of emergency contact information, including doctors, financial advisors, lawyer, and family members, safety deposit box info (location, contents, and key), inventory of household possessions (hard copy, disk, or video), cash or traveler’s checks, and any other items that cannot be replaced. And let’s put this box somewhere that’s easy to get it and walk out the door.
Have I made your brain hurt? Mine, too. Lots to think about, but you can rest easy once you’re done. And did I mention how proud I am of you? Well, I am. You are the Best and good things are coming your way. My wish for you today is that you will never need to take the Evacuation Box from your home, but just in case you do, you will be ready. And I will be giving extra credit today if you pass on this information to someone else who hasn’t even given a thought to being prepared. Get ready! Wouldn’t hurt to throw a flashlight and some batteries in that box, as well.

Since you know me so well, you already know that my greatest desire in life is to be footloose and fancy-free. Not a care in the world, right? I wake every morning with the great hope that my day will be stress-free and no worries in sight, but even I, on occasion, feel the need to plan and get serious–for just a minute!
Today’s task is to do something for the people in your life who will be left behind when you are gone. I know–it’s not ever going to happen, right? Not to me. But here’s why we can do it today. I know you don’t like to think sad or morbid thoughts–me either. But it’s like carrying an umbrella on a rainy day–you know it never pours when you’ve got the umbrella, right? So here goes…
Today you (and I) are going to look around and organize all of those important papers–like birth, death, marriage, and divorce certificates. Don’t forget those adoption papers, passports, military records, and social security cards. Gather the mortgage/loan documents, titles and deeds for the property you own and don’t forget about the cars. Since you’re already my hero, I know you need to pull those insurance papers from the file, and don’t forget the trust papers. Got them together already? You are the Best! If not, do it now. Get a fireproof box at the minimum and rent a safe deposit box at the bank, if you can. Along with copies of everything in your fireproof box at home, make a copy for the safe deposit box at the bank. Remember, don’t put the originals of your will or powers of attorney with the other paperwork in the bank, as the bank may seal the box temporarily if you die. Might even make sense to give someone else a copy of your will that’s offsite from your home–maybe with your best friend.
Still with me? You know you’re going to feel much better after you’ve gotten everything organized and if you have already done this, you are, as always, my hero! After losing a close family member recently, it hits home how much easier you will be making life for your family just in case the unexpected happens. And talk about your own peace of mind. I feel better already just thinking about it. Now, once you’re all done, you deserve a treat. The choice is yours. You are the Best and good things are coming your way. Does it look like it’s going to rain–good thing I’ve got that umbrella. Make me proud!!!

Seems the only consistent thing about our world these days is change. Today’s task is to make an active choice to change your thinking. The traditional practices and standards just don’t hold true anymore. So, let’s make the choice to change. Let’s try something new–something different. With competition, you might get rich, but that richness can be gone overnight, as we’ve seen. So, today, let’s make the choice to change our thinking. Competition is out the window. We’re going to start thinking creatively instead. Do things different than you’ve ever done them before. Look out for that customer. Let them feel they matter and they win–and you will win at the same time.
Not sure what I’m saying? Here’s what it’s about. You know your mind houses tremendous creativity. Let’s make a choice to put some of that creativity to work. You will be my hero if you choose to use every ounce of your creativity to make some new things happen. Don’t allow your attitude to be afected by the daily news, the stock market, the economy. You’ve got to believe that good things are coming. Make them happen.
Now, here’s one rule about storing that creativity in your power pack. Every effort that you make will generate positive impact, for both you and your business, but must also provide the buyer more than you have given them. Those riches you get to keep and cannot be taken away and you’re showing everyone you work with that they have the same opportunity to reach the top. Start talking about the good things as if they are already here. And go ahead and hang up a picture of that new car or house or boat or trip you want to take. Visualize it often. It will be yours.
Think you’re tough enough to change your thinking? There is enough of everything out there for each of us to be wealthy. Don’t focus on less than that. If you believe, the universe will generate everything that we need. Laugh if you want, for just a minute, then let’s get to work. You know I wouldn’t ever expect you to take on a challenge that I, myself, wasn’t willing to conquer. It’s true!!! You are the Best and great things are coming your way. Expect them. Work for them. I dare you! And I will meet you at the bank. I promise! And today will be a renewed opportunity to get that right thinking in place. It can happen. I believe in you. Make me proud!!!

Know anyone who’s dating seriously? Adults, for sure. Teenagers, absolutely. Considering getting married? Struggling in their relationship–a little or a lot? Ever wonder why you got married? Today’s task is to take just a minute to view a movie called Fireproof. Yeah, there’s a fireman or two in it, but it’s a story about lots more. Kirk Cameron is one of them. Not sure that little kids will be too interested, but my 8th grader gave it a thumbs’ up. Don’t want to spoil it for you, but I’ll give you just a hint of what it’s about–young couple contemplating divorce, both caught up in their own needs and wants. It is a great love story, but a story much bigger than this one relationship. Take a minute to watch it. You won’t be sorry.
Think you’re tough enough to break out the popcorn and congregate around the TV? The choice is yours. You are my hero if you already live the message in this movie. And I will be giving extra credit today if you pass along the message to others to see it, too. You are the Best and good things are coming your way. And today will be a fresh opportunity to gain some perspective and see the light! Make me proud!!!

Ever get frustrated? Tired? Just feel like you’re spinning your wheels and not get anywhere fast? Happens to each of us–some days. You are not alone. So, today’s task is to face that day and take the opportunity to put a fresh new spin on it. Don’t forget to try something different if you don’t seem to be getting anywhere, but if you know deep down in your heart that you’re on track, keep going. Stick to your program. Work day by day, one day at a time–heck, even one hour at a time, if you must. Most goals take lots longer than a day to achieve. Trust me. Mine seems to take decades.
Think you’re tough enough to keep on going when the going gets tough? I know you are. And so am I! Never say never! You are the Best and good things are coming your way! And today is going to be a new day to make things better–for yourself, for others, and for the world. Make me proud!!!
