MAKE ‘EM WANT WHAT YOU’VE GOT!!!
Imagine my grandmother in her youth–it wasn’t all that long ago–okay, maybe it was–anyway, her parents came from Germany so German words were part of her everday life. Being the youngest of the sisters, you knew her older sister had to taunt and tease her on occasion, right? One day her sister pretended to have something hidden in her hands and she pretended to be eating it. She called it “bonbons” the German word for candy. Now, my Grandmother wanted what she thought it was that her sister had–to the point of chasing her and wanting to knock her down even. Why is it that we always seem to want what we don’t have? Her sister really had nothing in her hands, but had convinced my Grandmother that she did. How about convincing people that they should want what you’ve got, when you do have something worth having?
Want to convince people in your world to be helpful, caring, generous, enthusiastic, kind and happy–to be just like you? The best way to teach those characteristics is by showing them to the rest of the world. Think you’re tough enough to treat people well? To show you care? To help when no one asked you to? To be enthusiastic when no one else is? To keep on smiling and offering what you have to others? To be the Best? I know you are and, hey, remember, I’m expecting great things from you! Make ‘em want what you’ve got! You’ve got a lot! Don’t forget to appreciate it! And today will be a great day to lead by example. Make me proud! Lead the way!
