When I took Bonnie to school for her first day of Kindergarten, she was just a bit clingy–and I’ll admit it, I didn’t want to let go of her hand either. Now, by the time that Laura went off to Kindergarten, you could tell that she had to remind herself to stop and turn around to say goodby to me. I always teased that by the time that Valerie went to Kindergarten, I would just give her the keys to the car.
Bonnie and Laura were so close in age that everyone thought they were twins–some days they still do. But when Valerie came along, I always waited for the day that they would say she was too little to play with them, but they never did. However, you will find as your children get older, there are a few stories that come to light and surprise you. So, you know there’s a story coming, right? Well, apparently one day, the girls were playing the back yard and the two older girls decided that it would be fun to tell Valerie that they were “each” going to eat a bug’s wing. Well, you guessed it—there was only one child who ate a bug’s wing.
So, today’s challenge is to remember that the littlest one probably need more of your attention than you think. And just remember that you will survive some rough times and pranks that your friends or family might play on you. I’m just glad they didn’t decide she had to eat a whole bug. Perhaps I should make a very “special” supper for the older girls one of these days. Where is my recipe for chocolate-covered grasshoppers anyway? Remember, you are the Best and good things are coming your way. And today will be filled with a chance to try some new delicacies and some old standbys. Make me proud!!!

“Lead, follow, or get out of the way.” ~Unknown
My sister took me out when I was learning to drive. We practiced driving on some quiet sidestreets. When I pulled up to the first stop sign, I stopped the car well ahead of the sign. My sister asked me, “Can you see if traffic is coming?” to which I responded, “No.” I then pulled up a little bit further. “Can you see now?” Again, the answer no. Talk about being a great roadblock. I’m sure you’ll be pleased to know that I really am a good driver now, but it took a little practice. Good thing there wasn’t any traffic that day.
So, today’s challenge is to remember that life is full of choices. You know you’re a good leader. I know some great followers. Understand what it is that you do well. But don’t make a choice to get in the way of the leaders and the followers. The choice is yours. Do it right! Remember, I’m expecting great things from you. Don’t be a roadblock.
You are the Best and good things are coming your way. And today will be a day filled with plenty of opportunity to make the choice, to lead the way. Make me proud!

Face it! We’ve all got stress in our lives. And along with stress comes the reality that we must find a way to deal with it. How do you deal with stress? Do you eat chocolate? Do you smoke? Do you get grumpy? Do you drink? Today’s task is to realize that while we might not have a choice having stress, we do have a choice about how to deal with it. So, here’s some positive, healthy suggestions for dealing with stress.
Exercise. Exercise is what makes you stressed? How about sleep?
Ever try meditating? Tough to find a quiet spot? Take ten minutes with that cell phone turned off while you’re driving in the car–but it doesn’t work if you’re prone to road rage. And you can always lock the bathroom door, if all else fails.
Take a deep breath! Okay, maybe more than one will be necessary.
Get a good night’s sleep. You can handle stress a whole lot better when you’re rested.
So, today’s challenge is to find a continuous solution to de-stressing yourself. We’ve all got stress in our lives, but working together, we can handle it head-on or maybe ducking is the real answer. Don’t let that stress get to you! After all, you are the Best and good things are coming your way! And today will be filled with the chance to feel calm, to deal with the excitement, and to ride the wave!!! Think you’re tough enough to take the challenge? Make me proud!!!
